Congratulations to John Chatburn, Class 16, who was presented the Wayne Meyer Statesman Award at a recent board meeting of LIA Trustees. John was unable to be at the graduation of Class 37 in February when the award was announced. John has a long list of achievements in his role in public policy.
 
Lovina Englund, Class 35, left her position at the University of Idaho in January and is currently working with local farmers and livestock producers in eastern Washington. Lovina is employed as an Agricultural Resources Coordinator with the Palouse Conservation District.
 
Eric Beck, Class 12, has returned to his farm in Menan and is continuing his cancer treatments in Idaho Falls. Our prayers and thoughts continue to be with Eric and his family.
 
Sympathy is extended to Rebecca Rutan, Class 33, in the passing of her father, Mike Beavers, 58 years old. Rebecca is employed at Northwest Farm Credit Service in Nampa. 
 
Congratulations to Kim O'Neill, Class 27, who has assumed the role of Associate Vice President of Development at the University of Idaho. Kim has been employed at UI CALS since 2005 in a variety of positions, most recently Assistant Dean of Development and Communications.
 
Congratulations to Marc Shigeta, Class 24, who was recently appointed by Governor Butch Otter to the Oil and Gas Commission for Idaho. Marc lives in New Plymouth.
 
CHS Primeland recently presented a $10,000 check to the Idaho Food Bank (IFB) as part of their Harvest for Hunger (H4H) fund drive.  Now in its sixth year, the H4H campaign this year raised $20,000, distributed between IFB and a number of community food banks in the CHS Primeland trade area.  LIA members who worked on the H4H campaign included Tom Chamberlin, Class 32; Tom Herres, Class 30; Derek Schneidmiller, Class 33; Jeff Sayre, Class 26; Jim Miller, Class 29; Lance Hedler, Class 35; and Nathan Groth, Class 37.  UI CALS added to the campaign by conducting a competition between departments, assisted by LIA members Carly Schoepflin, Class 34; Jen Root, Class 35; and Kim O'Neill, Class 27.
 
Jim Miller, Class 29, was recently appointed to the UI CALS Alumni Board, joining other LIA alumni board members Travis Jones, Class 28, and Carly Schoepflin, Class 34, who serves as the board's Executive Secretary.
 
Leadership Moscow graduated eight students this May, the first class since 2005.  Kim O'Neill, Class 27, and Jim Miller, Class 29, were part of the four person steering committee that led the class, conducted by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce.  
 
Governor Butch Otter recently appointed a number of LIA alumni as members of the Idaho Alfalfa and Clover Seed Commission:  Jeff Hartman, Class 34; Mike Nichols, Class 13; Kevin Osborne, Class 33; and Leland Tiegs, Class 4.
 
The campaign season for governor is heating up in Idaho. The following were named to the "Little for Governor" state leadership team: John Wright, Class 37; Laurie Lickley, Affiliate Member; Wayne Hurst, Class 13; and Will Ricks, Class 27. Gayle Batt, Class 18, was named co-chairman of the "Labrador for Governor" campaign.
