Congratulations to Matt Gellings, Class 19, who was recently reappointed by President Trump to the USDA State Farm Service Agency Committee. Matt farms in the Idaho Falls area and is a past LIA Board of Trustees Chairman. At the 2018 annual meeting of Valley Wide Cooperative, Adam Clark, Class 38, announced that a new scholarship program had been established honoring former Board of Directors Chairman Eric Beck, Class 12, who passed away this past year from cancer. Cortney Beck, Class 34, son of Eric, works for Valley Wide Cooperative. Jason Keller, Class 37, recently was asked to join Adrian Kroes, owner of Sunridge Dairy, when the dairy received a national award for milk quality. Jason is a veterinarian with Herd Health, PLLC in Nampa. Sympathy is extended to Debra Ausman, Class 19, and to Robert Blair, Class 26, both of whom lost their mother in recent weeks. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Congratulations to Will Ricks, Class 27, Rick Pearson, Class 21, and Jim Blanksma, Class 13, who were recently re-elected to the board of the Idaho Hay and Forage Association. Newly elected to the board was Adam Duckett, Class 33. Also serving on that board as LIA graduates are Dan Safford, Class 28, and Ben McIntyre, Class 29. Congratulations to Brad McIntyre, Class 29, on the birth of a son, Garth Steven McIntyre. This is Brad and Jill's 6th child. Brad is still involved with his family's farm and custom haying operation. Chad Cheyney, Class 28, was presented the Don Hale Hall of Fame Award at the 2018 Idaho Hay and Forage Conference. Chad is a former Extension Educator with U of I CALS. Plaques were presented to the following for 10 years of membership with the LIA Foundation: Eric Odberg, Class 11, Alan Martinson, Class 27, Kali Sherrill, Class 27, and Shannon Williams, Class 27. State Representative Clark Kauffman, Class 13, received the Wayne Meyer Statesman award at the graduation of Class 38. Clark is just completing his sixth year as a state legislator and has filed to run for a 4th term. The following were presented the LIA Friend of the Industry award: Mowbray Brown, Red Lion Downtowner; RoLynne Hendricks, Class 33, LIA Board of Trustees Chairman; Claudia Nally, Governor's office; Cindy Pusey, AMG office staff; Jen Argon, Red Lion Downtowner and Rob McCarvel, United Heritage Insurance Company. LIA lifetime memberships for twenty years of continuous membership were presented at the graduation of Class 38 to the following people: Rick Phillips, Class 1; Laura Johnson, Class 11; Mark Pratt, Class 11 and Glenn Jacklin, Class 12.
