Thanks to all LIA Alumni who volunteered shifts at the Food Producers of Idaho Agriculture, Food and Natural Resource Pavilion at the Western Idaho and Twin Falls County Fairs. It was not only a great help in Pavilion operations, but also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with former LIA alumni and to help in recruiting Class 35.
And speaking of Class 35, we are happy to announce our new class members: Mark Bateman (Nampa), Kristie Dorsey (Caldwell), David Duvall (Meridian), Joe Farmer (Nyssa), Aric Frostenson (Jerome), Kyra Gibson (Nampa), Taylor Grant (Rupert), Lance Hedler (Lewiston), Tyler Hepworth (Oakley), Annie Inks (Eagle), Randall Jayo (Kimberly), Blair Lyon (Idaho Falls), Lindsay Markegard (Victor), Kirk Moser (Troy), Tyler Musgrave (Burley), Treg Owings (Moscow), Megan Paez (Kimberly), Kyra Povirk (Salmon), Wendy Pratt (Blackfoot), Samantha Ramsay (Moscow), Alex Reed (Filer), Shane Robins (Kuna), Jen Root (Moscow), Lovina Roselle (Moscow), Steven Smith (Idaho Falls), Garrett Tschida (American Falls), Jeremey Varley (Salmon), Jane Waldher (Meridian), Heathe Weston (Rigby), and Riley Wight (Kimberly). Congratulations to all of you! November 4 is Election Day in Idaho and several LIA Alumni are running for positions of leadership at local and state levels. While attending the Twin Falls County Fair we learned that former County Commissioner, Tom Mikesell, Class 27, is running again for a County Commissioner position for Twin Falls County. Tom served as Commissioner from November 2002- January 2011. Jeff Anderson, Class 32, has relocated to Reno, NV where he is still employed with USDA NRCS as a Water Supply Specialist. Jeff moved with his family back in March and we learned of his relocation through the LIA Directory update process. Jeff is educated as a Hydrologist and had worked in Idaho on the NRCS Snow Survey Team. Speaking of moving, Glenn Meyer, Class 17, and his wife, Linda, left the Magic Valley on August 31 for Israel. Glenn wrote, “God has opened our eyes and our hearts to the Muslims, in particular to the Bedouin Shepherds. There are over 1.4 billion Muslims in the world. Over 1 billion live in unreached people groups, which means that less than 2% of the population is known as Christians. Of those, 1,108 people groups are considered unengaged, meaning there are no known churches or Christians among them.” Sara (Braasch) Schmidt, Class 9, and her husband, Jim, want to thank their LIA friends for their thoughts and prayers since she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She recovered quickly from surgery and is responding well to chemotherapy. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Sara also wants to remind ladies over 40 to get their annual mammograms!
