Congratulations to Joe R. Anderson, Class 9, who has been appointed by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter to the Idaho Wheat Commission. Joe’s farming operation is located in Genesee and he has been an active leader and past officer with the Idaho Grain Producers Association.

Carl Rey, Class 15, has been named by Governor C. L. “Butch” Otter to the newly established Wolf Depredation Control Board established by the 2014 Idaho Legislature. Rey will represent the general public on the board.

Life will change for Dave Paul, Class 16, who recently announced his retirement from USDA Risk Management in Spokane, WA. Dave has been director of that agency for the past 19 years. Dave plans to pursue a career in the private sector. Congratulations, Dave, and enjoy your retirement!

Brenda Waters, Class 20, is still on the move. After 5 wonderful months in Omaha, Brenda has received her new assignment doing a 90 day detail as acting Superintendent at Pea Ridge National Battlefield in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. At the end of September, Brenda will either move to another detail or to a permanent park assignment.

Sympathy is extended to Rick Waitley, Class 8, and Kendra Dustin, Class 32, in the passing of Rick’s father / Kendra’s grandfather on July 4th.

Congratulations to Ty Iverson, Class 24, and his wife, Lisa, who celebrated the birth of a son, Colton Thomas, on July 9. Also, Ty was recently named by the Bonner County Soil Conservation District as the 2014 Farmer of the Year. Ty’s father had received this award a few years before. Ty farms around 1000 acres near Bonners Ferry.

Travis Jones, Class 28, has announced he is a candidate for a vacant position on the Boise School Board. The position is for an open two-year seat. Travis is the Executive Director for Idaho Grain Producers Association and currently President of Food Producers of Idaho.

Aaron Greenwell, Class 33, has recently expanded his responsibilities in Bannock County. He now oversees noxious weeds, mosquitoes, code enforcement and the fairgrounds at Pocatello and Downey. According to Aaron - “Not many hours left in the day after that routine!”  If anyone can handle it, the commissioners have identified the right man for the job.

Earlier this month you were mailed information sheets for the 2014-2015 LIA Directory. Please return those to us as quickly as possible so we can make our changes and prepare for print. Also, membership dues for 2014-2015 were sent. The membership year is from July 1 – June 30.

Applications for Class 35 are due by August 1!  Tuition is $2400. Scholarship support is available if candidate is selected and the need is made known. Don’t let this discourage anyone from applying. You can secure a copy of the application on line at www.leadershipidahoag.org.

We encourage your continued support of the LIA Foundation!
