The Power List, compiled by Idaho Business Review earlier this year, included some LIA Alumni. Congratulations to Wayne Hammon, Class 14, who is the CEO for the Idaho Association of General Contractors and Moya Dolsby, Class 30, who serves as Executive Director of the Idaho Grape Growers and Wine Commission.

Avery Robertson, Class 39, informed the LIA office that as of May 1, he is now running his own business, J&R Capital LLC, full time. Avery does short-term real estate secured loans in Idaho. As a licensed Realtor, this will help Avery have more flexibility to serve clients that are buying and selling real estate in East Idaho. Avery worked for Idaho AgCredit the last 7 years.

You may not be aware of this, but Joe Anderson, Class 22, has been serving as the Meridian Man of the Year. Joe was selected as a top civic leader in his local community. Joe lives in Meridian and is Sr. Vice President Client Advisor for The Buckner Company.

Kelsea Donahue, Class 44, who works for Sawtooth Law in Boise, shared that her Father, Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue, has recently been elected President of the National Sherriff’s Association, a non-profit representing over 3,086 sheriffs from across the country. Sheriff Donahue assumes his leadership role June 1. He will have an even bigger assignment when he walks Kelsea down the aisle at her wedding on September 14.

It was exciting to read posts about graduations in the following families of LIA members: Debra Easterday Reeves, Class 41, and Britt Beene, Class 36, both had children graduating. Jessica Anderson, Class 41, recently received her BSU EMBA. Jessica is employed at the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry in Boise.

Sympathy is extended to Caroline Troy, Class 15, in the recent passing of her Mother. Caroline is employed by the U of I and works directly with the President’s office on projects related to Government Affairs at a state and national level.

Congratulations to Andrea Mouw, Class 42, who was selected as Top Laboratory Owner of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals for her outstanding leadership, dedication and commitment to the industry. Andrea is the owner and operator of Dairywise Laboratory Services, LLC in Twin Falls. Andrea also just completed a trip to Uganda and Liberia with Cedric as part of the Roots Africa Project.

The LIA Board of Trustees recently addressed dues of Alumni members. After several years of no increases, the Board made the following decisions:
  • Dues will now be set at $50.00/year
  • Discontinue option of $75.00 dues for LIA graduate couples
  • Maintaining Lifetime Membership fee - $1,000 or the three payment program option
  • Affiliate members remained the same

After carefully analyzing expenses of LIA Class 44 - the Board of Trustees has set tuition for LIA Classes 46-47 to be $3,300. Tuition for Class 45, which has an August 1 application deadline, will remain at $3,000. This does not include travel and lodging at the four locations.

Idaho will be hosting IAPAL in October. This will be a chance for LIA to highlight the state, Idaho’s Agriculture and the graduates of our program. The event will be hosted and based in Boise. Participants are expected from many states and countries. This will be the first time that Idaho has hosted this group. IAPAL are leaders who train leaders similar to the LIA program.

Idaho Ag Summit is a program coordinated and supported by Leadership Idaho Agriculture. The Summit, which happens each February, brings together leaders in Idaho Ag from across the state to address timely topics. A planning committee coordinates the subject matter and presents for the conference. If you would like to serve as a member of the Summit Planning Committee, please let Rick Waitley know by calling 208-888-0988 or emailing [email protected].
