The DC Experience is an opportunity offered to alumni to continue to build on the foundation that was established in the core program. This experience is a week-long immersion into the culture of our Nation’s Capital that gives participants a better understanding of government and National Agriculture Organizations. Participants have the opportunity to meet with the members of Idaho’s congressional delegation, gain a better understanding of national agricultural organizations, and tour various government agencies and landmarks.

REFLECTIONS from DC Participants

  • The best part was learning how the system of government works and having a better understanding of the processes at a national level
  • Added value to blend classes of LIA Alumni
  • Balanced program in visits with trade associations and government entities
  • Overall view of the city on the first day was very valuable and a great opportunity to plan a personal strategy for the remainder of the week
  • The orientation meeting was very beneficial and helped to lower my anxiety about the week
  • Originally dreaded the distance and interruption of my schedule, but driving home I felt it had been a worthwhile investment
  • Great location to the hub of D.C. - the Metro and so many other things in easy walking distance
  • Perfect group size for the visits we had - gave us time to ask questions and interact with presenters
  • Liked going right after the LIA class program because everything was fresh
  • Hoped that the experience would be more than just a tourist visit - it was and way exceeded my expectation!
