LIA BRIEFS

Wedding bells rang in July for Aubrey Woodcock, Class 34 - now Aubrey Hoxie. Aubrey’s husband is an ag teacher in Idaho and Aubrey works for USDA – NRCS. Congratulations!

Sympathy is extended to Drew Eggers, Class 12, in the passing of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Corbet. Drew’s wife, Debra, is a regular attendee of the LIA Auction activities each February.  

Russ DeKruyf, Class 28, had the experience of walking his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day, July 19. Congratulations to the DeKruyfs on the marriage of their daughter!

The teachers who participated in the Idaho Ag in the Classroom summer tour from Boise to Idaho Falls in July got to meet several LIA alumni along the way who made presentations about their operations. Thanks to Nate Fowler, Class 33, TLK Dairy; Ryan Miller, Class 33, and Kenyon Miller, Class 33, Grant 4-D Farms; and Mark Pratt, Class 11, Pratt Farms. LIA alumni also stepped up to host evening BBQ’s for the tour group.  Kali Sherrill, Class 27, and Heather Tiel-Nelson, Class 24, coordinated the Twin Falls dinner, and Katie Wallace, Class 35, coordinated the Idaho Falls dinner.

Steve Kaufman, Class 34, has returned full time to the family farm, leaving his position with Northwest Farm Credit Services in Lewiston. As a result, Josh Huff, Class31, is now the lead Relationship Manager for the Lewiston NWFC operation.

Sympathy is extended to Paul Brusven, Class 21, due to the passing of his father in early August. Services were held in Moscow.  

Wishes for a quick recovery from surgery are being sent to Kris Thompson, Class 10. Kris is expected to be back to work at her attorney firm in Meridian within a few days.

The 2014 Food Producers of Idaho Agriculture, Food and Natural Resource Pavilion will be operating at the Western Idaho Fair (Boise) and the Twin Falls County Fair (Filer). We rely on a great deal of volunteer help from LIA Alumni and hope that many of you have signed up for a shift or two to help us tell the agriculture story to those who visit the pavilion.

Applications for Class 35 are being received at this time! The deadline was August 1; however, applications will be received through September 1. If you know of someone who needs a nudge or a little encouragement, please give them a call. Applications and the dates for the four locations are available on line at www.leadershipidahoag.org.

The LIA Washington, DC Experience is scheduled for Sunday, April 12 – Friday, April 17. If you are interested in being on the potential list, please contact Joanne York at [email protected]. Spouses may also attend this event, however, the size of the group is limited.

Idaho Ag Summit Governor Awards were announced recently. Congratulations to Kelly Olson, Class 16,    selected in the area of Marketing Innovation, and to Duane Grant, Class 2, for being selected in the area for Education/Advocacy.
