Congratulations to Alise Erickson (class 34) and her husband, Bryninn, on the arrival of Ian Orville Erickson, born on June 8th. Ian is the grandson of Robin Wylie Lindquist (class 21) and Craig Lindquist (class 31), and the great-grandson of Jim Wylie (class 22)! It is reported that both Mommy and baby are doing very well.
Congratulations to Travis Jones, Class 28, and his wife, Samantha, on the birth of Morgan Murielle Jones, on June 10th. Travis is the Executive Director for the Idaho Grain Producers Association. Travis wants everyone to know that Morgan is well on her way to becoming a strong VANDAL. Kyra Gibson, Class 35, has been named the Idaho Executive Director for the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors. Kyra will be handling administrative services for the group. Sympathy is extended to Jeremy Varley, Class 35, in the passing of his father-in-law. Sympathy is also extended to Ann Jacops, Class 31, in the passing of her mother. We received word that Renae Schmidt, Class 34, recently moved to San Antonio, TX. Watch for Renae’s new address in the 2015-2016 LIA Alumni Directory. Brandon Knapton, Class 34, recently accepted a position with the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest in Kooskia, beginning August 3. He successfully competed for the Lochsa-Powell District Ranger job, where he will be responsible for the management of approximately 900,000 acres of the forest which includes over 110,000 acres of wilderness, numerous miles of wild and scenic river, the scenic and historic Lewis and Clark and Ni Mi Poo (Nez Perce) Trails, and some challenging forest and habitat management activities. Brandon’s wife, Melissa, and daughters are excited to move back up north. Brandon writes: I don't believe it would have been possible without the LIA program and your leadership, so for that, I thank you. Congratulations, Brandon! Western Idaho Fair is again looking for nominations for the Farm Family of the Day. You can nominate online at idahofair.com. Deadline for nominations is July 17. This is a great honor for farm families throughout southwestern Idaho. The application is simple and we encourage you to nominate a farm family from your area. The Twin Falls County Fair, through Food Producers of Idaho, will be sponsoring Featured Farm Family Awards during the fair in August. Applications are available at the Food Producer website, foodproducersofidaho.org. Applications for LIA CLASS 36 are due August 1 - and we have already received several. If you know eligible candidates, please encourage them to submit applications – and offer to write their first letter of recommendation! Selected participants will be notified mid-September. 2015 LIA Directory Updates: Thank you to those of you who have responded to our request for updates or confirmation of your directory listing information – almost 200 of you! So, for the 600 of you who have not had the opportunity to respond yet, we have extended our deadline to July 17! The directory is posted online at www.leadershipidahoag.org.
