LIA Briefs

Congratulations to Larry Hollifield, Class 41, who has been elected President of Food Producers of Idaho. Larry will serve for a two-year period. Larry farms near Hansen and is involved in several local and statewide ag organizations.

Congratulations to Brody, Class 43, and Emilee Isham on the birth of their daughter, Harper Kay, on November 8. Brody works for Idaho Ag Consulting.

Benton Glaze, Class 20, has recently been named as interim department head of the Department of Animal, Veterinary, and Food Sciences at the U of I. Benton is a professor and has been a beef specialist since joining the U of I faculty in 2000. A national search is underway for a permanent department head. Benton is currently based in Twin Falls

Sympathy is extended to Debra Easterday Reeves, Class 41, on the recent passing of her grandmother. Deb is active in the dairy industry and operates a dairy with her husband near Buhl.

Sympathy is extended to Rob Rider and family in the passing of his wife Linda, Class 22. Linda was a Lifetime Member of LIA and former member of the Board of Trustees. She is the brainpower behind the creation of a program to educate elementary children where their food comes from titled Farm to Table. The event was held each spring at the North Idaho Fairgrounds in CDA. Linda was active in Farm Bureau and the cattle associations local and state. She served on the North Idaho Fair Board for several years and has been recognized by their regional group for her leadership.

Matt Dorsey, Class 29, was elected President of the Idaho Farm Bureau Federation, Idaho's largest farm organization. Matt farms near Caldwell and has been serving on the Idaho Farm Bureau board of directors for several years. He and his wife, Kristie, Class 35, will be providing leadership to the organization going forward. Matt has been active in local politics and was on the ground floor of developing Jefferson Charter School in Caldwell.

Congratulations to Joe Anderson, Class 9, who received the Idaho Wheat Commission award for Distinguished Service at their recent convention. Joe operates a dryland farm in the Genesee area and has been active in grain organizations for several years. At the same event, Larry Hollifield ,Class 41,was recognized by Idaho Grain Producers Association and awarded the Member of the Year Award.

The skies became much friendlier when Taylor Grant, Class 35, recently received his private pilot’s license. Taylor is the COO of Grant 4D Farms based in Rupert.

Ben Goode, Class 46, has been elected vice president of the Associated Taxpayers of Idaho. Ben works for Itafos Conda, LLC in Soda Springs where he serves as Financial Operations Director.

Interested in serving on the LIA Auction Planning Committee? We are always interested in identifying alumni who would like to join the committee that plans the annual Gala and Auction in late February.
